Is it down? Website down checker

Enter a website. Uplapse requests it from its own servers, outside your network, and tells you whether it answers, how fast, and what went wrong if it does not.

The check runs once from Uplapse’s servers when you press the button. Nothing is stored and nothing keeps checking.

Down for everyone, or just you?

The check runs from Uplapse's servers, not from your computer. If the site answers here but not for you, the problem is between you and the site: your connection, your DNS resolver, a VPN or proxy, a firewall, or a block on your network. If it fails here too, the site itself or its hosting is the likely cause.

What counts as down

The checker follows redirects and reports the final answer. A 2xx or 3xx response means the server answered. A 4xx means it answered but refused the request: 404 is a missing page, 403 a block, which some sites apply to automated checks. A 5xx means the server or something in front of it failed. No answer at all (the name does not resolve, the connection is refused, or nothing replies within the time limit) is down in the strictest sense.

When a site is down for you only

Try another network, such as mobile data instead of Wi-Fi. Flush your DNS cache or switch to a public resolver: a recent DNS change may not have reached yours yet. Turn off a VPN or browser extension that filters traffic. If only one page is down, check the full URL, not just the domain.

Find out before your visitors do

A one-off check answers "is it down now". Uptime monitoring asks the same question on a schedule from the locations you choose, checks the status and content you expect, and alerts the person who can fix it when the answer changes.

Check it every few minutes instead of once

A one-off check tells you about now. Uplapse runs checks like this on a schedule and alerts the right person when the answer changes.
